Antiqued Preserved Flowers
A special technique I've
worked on to create flowers reminiscent of antique wood carvings. These are real Magnolia flowers,
preserved and treated to look like ornate antique embellishments.
|
I
begin with a fresh flower, and then, after careful preparation and
many tedious steps, it becomes a beautiful one of a kind accessory to
be used to embellish a frame, antique or special woodworking project.
My inspiration in creating
these is the idea of a hand carved wooden flower, only real. Since
each one begins as a real flower, each one is a different, one of a
kind beauty. |
 |
A single,
antiqued Magnolia blossom. |
 |
An antiqued
Magnolia blossom, designed and specially prepared to compliment this
particular antique frame. |
 |
With careful
planning, the blossom becomes an elegant design element of the antique
frame. |
|
After being treated in this manner, these flowers are no longer
delicate and can withstand a reasonable amount of handling. They can
even be vacuumed or rinsed with water for cleaning.
I have a fairly large amount
of Magnolias, Stephanotis, Carnations, Roses and Dendrobium
Orchids that have been prepared with this antique method. More pictures
may be added as I get time. |
